2. Provision of website

When you use the website for informational purposes only, i.e., if you do not register or otherwise provide us with information (e.g., via a contact form), we collect the following technical information (log file data):
  • Browser (type, version, and language settings)
  • The amount of data retrieved
  • The current IP address of the device you are using to visit our website
  • Date and time of access
  • The URL of the previously visited website (referrer)
  • The URL of the (sub)page you are accessing on the website
  • The Internet service provider of the accessing system
The collection of this data is technically necessary in order to display our website to you and to ensure stability and security. We (and our service provider) are generally not aware of who is behind an IP address. We do not combine the above data with other data.

The legal basis for storing the data/log files is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
Storing the data in log files ensures that the website functions properly and also serves to improve and secure our systems. No further evaluation of this data (e.g. for marketing purposes) takes place in this context. The data stored by the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science e.V. is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected. This is the case after six weeks at the latest. Further storage is possible. In this case, the IP addresses of the users are deleted or anonymized so that it is no longer possible to assign them to the calling client.

3. Application process

For applications, we use the services of our partner, rexx systems GmbH, Süderstraße 75-79, 20097 Hamburg. rexx systems processes application data on behalf of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science e.V. We will, of course, use your information exclusively for the purpose of processing your application. During the application process, your personal data will be processed; this may vary depending on the vacancy. The legal basis for the processing of your personal data in the context of the application process is Section 26 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and Article 6(1)(a), (b), and (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If no contract is concluded, your personal data will be deleted 6 months after completion of the application process, unless you have given us your express consent to store your data for a longer period.

4. Cookies

This website uses so-called “cookies,” which serve to make the Internet presence more user-friendly, effective, and secure overall. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer system. We would like to point out that some of these cookies are transferred from our server to your computer system, most of which are so-called “session cookies.” “Session cookies” are characterized by the fact that they are automatically deleted from your hard drive at the end of the browser session. Other cookies remain on your computer system and enable us to recognize your computer system on your next visit (so-called permanent cookies). When the website is accessed, the user is informed about the use of cookies and their consent to the processing of the personal data used is obtained. No personal data is stored in the cookies used. We only receive anonymized information based on the cookies. Of course, you can refuse cookies at any time, provided your browser allows this. Please note that certain functions of this website may not be available or may be limited if your browser is set to not accept cookies (from our website).
The legal basis for the possible processing of personal data using cookies and their storage period may vary. If you have given us your consent, the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. If data processing is based on our overriding legitimate interests, the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The stated purpose then corresponds to our legitimate interest.
Technically necessary cookies serve to simplify the use of websites. The user data collected by technically necessary cookies is not used to create user profiles. Analysis cookies are used to improve the quality of the websites and their content. Analysis cookies tell us how the website is used and enable us to continuously optimize our offering.

5. Newsletter

You can subscribe to various newsletters on some of our websites, which we use to inform you about our company's activities and provide you with the latest information. The content of each newsletter is briefly described during the registration process. The legal basis for sending the respective newsletter is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR in conjunction with § 7 (2) No. 3 UWG (German Unfair Competition Act) or the legal permission in accordance with § 7 (3) UWG.
We use the double opt-in procedure for registration for our newsletters. This means that after you register, we will send an email to the email address you provided, asking you to confirm that you wish to receive the newsletter. If you do not confirm your registration, your information will be automatically deleted after 3 days.
The only mandatory information required to send the newsletter is your email address. The provision of further data is voluntary: this data is used to address you personally. After your confirmation, we will store your email address for the purpose of sending the newsletter and until you revoke your consent. We also store your IP address at the time of registration, the time of registration, and the confirmation for up to three years after registration (statute of limitations). The purpose of this procedure is to verify your registration in case of doubt and, if necessary, to investigate any misuse of your personal data. The legal basis for logging the registration is our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR in proving that consent was previously given; see also Art. 7 (1) GDPR.
You can revoke your consent to receive the newsletter at any time and unsubscribe from the newsletter. You can revoke your consent by clicking on the link provided in every newsletter email or by sending an email to news@transforming-chemistry.org.

6. contact form and E-Mail

We provide a contact form on our website for easy communication. The data entered in the input fields will be transmitted to and stored by CTC gGmbH. Additionally, at the time of submission, the user’s IP address as well as the date and time of transmission will be stored. Alternatively, you can contact us via the provided email address. In this case, the personal data transmitted with the email will also be stored. The data will not be shared with third parties and will be used exclusively for processing your request.

The legal basis for processing the data, if the user has given consent, is Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 (a) GDPR. The legal basis for processing data transmitted via email is Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 (f) GDPR. If the email contact aims to conclude a contract, the legal basis for processing is Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 (b) GDPR.

Processing personal data serves solely to handle the contact request. In the case of email contact, this also constitutes the necessary legitimate interest in processing the data. Other processed personal data help prevent misuse of the contact form and ensure the security of our IT systems.

The data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer necessary for the purpose for which they were collected. For personal data from the contact form and those transmitted via email, this is the case when the conversation with the user has ended. The conversation is considered ended when it can be inferred from the circumstances that the matter in question has been fully resolved.

7. Disclosure of Personal Data / Recipients

Your personal data will generally not be transferred to third parties unless we are legally obliged to do so, the data transfer is necessary for the execution of a contractual relationship, or you have expressly consented to the transfer of your data.

Your data will only be shared with affiliated companies and service partners if they act on our behalf and support CTC gGmbH in providing its services. Processing of your personal data by commissioned service providers takes place within the scope of data processing agreements pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. These service providers only receive access to personal information necessary to perform their respective tasks. They are prohibited from sharing your personal information or using it for other purposes, particularly for their own advertising. Where external service providers come into contact with your personal data, we have ensured through legal, technical, and organizational measures as well as regular checks that they also comply with applicable data protection regulations. Specifically, the recipients are as follows: There is no commercial transfer of your personal data to other companies.

We strive to process your data within the EU / EEA. However, it may happen that we use service providers who process data outside the EU / EEA. In such cases, we ensure that an adequate level of data protection comparable to EU standards is established at the recipient before transferring your personal data. This can be achieved, for example, through EU standard contractual clauses, Binding Corporate Rules, or special agreements to which the company commits.
